Sunburns are caused due to over exposure to sunlight which has ultraviolet rays in large amount. Here are few home remedies which could be practiced for getting relief of itching and inflammation. Cool milk and cold water can be mixed in 1:1 ratio and a clean wash cloth is dipped in it and it could be applied on the affected reddish area of the skin. Milk has the cooling effect and it forms a thin film of protein over the skin outermost layers which pacify the pain. The lactic acid is also found to reduce the inflammation produced. The second important technique which is handled is with vinegar. While cider vinegar is diluted to the required concentration and a few drops are added to the cold water. A level of one cup of diluted form is allowed for a tub of water. We can use this directly by applying it on the sunburn area with a cotton (never apply it on the eyes surrounding if so take proper measures) or it could be used as a water mixture for taking bath. Other natural products like cucumber, potato, onion juices are also used for this treatment.

One teaspoon of cucumber juice is mixed with one teaspoon of milk and then it is applied. Potato and onion juices can be applied as such raw on the face, neck, and hand region. These juices helps to control itching and puffiness. Lavender juice and some types of oils like peppermint oil, chamomile oils are also found to have the effect of healing the sunburns.
